Types of EPS Molds

Aug 14, 2026

Classification by Core Structural Design
Cavity-Core Molds:The fundamental type of EPS molding system; the interaction between the cavity and core precisely defines the product's final geometry. This design enables strict dimensional tolerance control and consistent product quality, supporting the molding of complex shapes and fine details. It is commonly used for products requiring high precision and tight fits, such as custom protective packaging and irregularly shaped inserts.
Stack Molds:Designed specifically for high-volume production, these molds feature multiple internal cavity layers, allowing for the simultaneous molding of multiple parts within a single cycle. This significantly boosts production efficiency, shortens the cycle time per unit, and optimizes equipment utilization and energy consumption. They are ideal for mass-producing standardized items like EPS bead-filled products, general-purpose trays, and simple insulation blocks.

Classification by Runner System
Hot-Runner EPS Molds: These eliminate the need to clear solidified runner waste, resulting in minimal material loss. They produce smoother gate marks and superior surface quality, facilitate automated continuous production, and offer high efficiency-making them ideal for large-batch EPS products with strict aesthetic requirements.
Cold-Runner EPS Molds: These feature a relatively simple structure and lower manufacturing costs. Excess material from the runner sections can be recycled, making them suitable for producing small batches of diverse, customized EPS products; they also require less demanding maintenance.
